After being on the road from Denver for a solid 4ish hours, Prairie Dog Town was a welcomed adventure…

We arrived and saw all the cute little prairie dogs running around the grounds…

Aww how cute a momma and baby prairie dog together…

Then, “Oh My God! What is going on!? Did she just jump the baby?”…

…nothing good can come of this…

The baby was left decapitated and the momma went back into its hole.

Needless to say- I was absolutely horrified.

But we paid good money to see the WORLDS LARGEST PRAIRIE DOG, so we continued on…

Then came the reason for me begging to go to Prairie Dog Town during the entire 5 day trip…

I’m sorry, I know I just ruined all the fun of driving through western Kansas and wondering what the
WORLDS LARGEST PRAIRIE DOG looks like, but come on- its totally awesome.

It’s made from concrete, and sources have told me that it didn’t used to be painted.

So worth the money, mainly because I did not pay for it.

We used Farmland’s Hickory Smoked Bacon.  It was the heavy duty pack.  There are 40 pieces of bacon in it.  We only used 12 of them in the quilt.

Laying down the foundation of the quilt.  I felt like an artist.  My medium was meat instead of marble.

It’s started to look a little bit like a quilt.

Someone took a picture of my cat, so here she is.  She seems mighty interested in what’s happening over on the counter.  Sorry kitty!  You can’t have any.  Only men.

We decided to cook the bacon quilt on the stove rather than in the oven, mostly because we forgot it could be cooked in an oven.  This was the beginning of our downfall.

We weren’t really sure how to move the quilt to the frying pan without losing any bacon.  We eventually decided on using two spatulas and our hands to make the move.

We ended up losing one piece of bacon on the journey.  All things considered, it was a successful move despite the casuality.

We forgot to turn on the oven fan and it got really, really smokey.  The smoke tasted like hickory.

It was then we ran into a slight problem.  We weren’t sure how to flip the whole thing at once.

We spent about five minutes stabbing it with spatulas before we finally found a way to flip it over.  The bacon started becoming more and more loose, and it wasn’t cooking evenly.  Pretty soon it snowballed into disaster.

I’m not sure how it got to this point.  It really is ugly.  I guess we just didn’t weave the bacon tight enough and it imploded on itself.

This was supposed to be the meal of men.  It turned instead into a meal of embarrassment.  The bacon quilt had turned into regular bacon.

We did manage to salvage it however.  In the breadbox we found homemade biscuits.  We sliced them open and made bacon biscuit sandwiches.

The bacon biscuit sandwiches were brilliant, and almost erased the memory of the failed bacon quilt entirely.

Jack’s Take

Our attempt at the bacon quilt was not successful.  However, some very imporant lessons were learned (like use the oven instead of the stove).  Also, we discovered bacon biscuits.  Bacon Biscuits are awesome.

If the cleanliness of a personal bathroom is the deciding factor, then I definately failed real life.

Here, I present a picture tour of my bathroom freshman year of college.  The dorm room I stayed in had its own bathroom, which was really quite nice…that is until it got dirty and no one cleaned it up.

The door isn’t too menacing.

Here we go!

A towel on the floor.  It had been in that spot for three months.

An empty coke can on the sink.

Bacteria growing out of the sink.

Probably around two months worth of trash.

Almost on par with the toilet from Trainspotting.

Dirt from something.

The only cleaning products in the bathroom right here.

You’d think the shampoo run off would clean the floor of the shower.  It doesn’t.

Trust me, I knew the bathroom was disgusting.  I was angry at my roommate though, so I kept waiting for him to clean it.  He never did.

We didn’t get away with the dirty bathroom.  Once a semester, the RA does room inspections for each room on the floor, to make sure no one is killing themself with uncleanliness.  Here is the report my room got.

And to top it off, the RA spotted the furniture we stole from the lobby…

Yep.  So that’s that.

Don’t let your bathroom ever get that dirty.  It’s not safe.  I think I probably learned a lesson maybe.

The Dark Knight’s viral marketing campaign was probably the greatest in history.  A year and a half before the movie was released, the advertising people were getting fans involved by leaking videos and pictures onto the internet for everyone to eat up.  It creates hype, you see.

One thing those crazy marketing geniuses did was put up a website that supposedly belonged to the real Joker.  On it, the Joker called out to his droogs to help him spread his infamous name across the country.  People were asked to go out into the public and put up posters, do scavenger hunts, and dress up like him.
The dressing up part is what concerns us the most…because I participated in that one.  Let’s see what we got here.

Now wait a second.  See that picture at the top right?  Is that…could it be…..?

Yes…yes…I think that I am…in that picture.

Yep, that’s me all right.  With a few of my friends as well.  This was back in…oh, I’d say November last year.  It was a day well spent if I recall correctly.

So anyway, that’s kind of cool that the Dark Knight people used me in their advertising campaign.  I am probably responsible for the $900 million dollars the movie made.

Usually when No-Shave November arrives, I pump myself up and don’t shave for the first week…but then I realize how awful I look and break down and shave my whiskers away.  This year, however, things were different.  I was able put up with my horrible, patchy facial hair the entire month.  That’s right, I never shaved.  And it was a terrible experience.  My face broke out and my mustache looked like food crumbs.  But I learned to accept the humiliation and embrace it.

Here are the pictures of my pathetic hair progress.  I shaved on October 31st.

That picture was taken on November 8th.  If you squint you can see some stuff.

This was on the 19th.

And that is what I looked like on the 31st.

Overall I would rate the month a 5/10.  Better luck next year indeed.
